You have two options for proving your language skills to the Canadian Government. Let me explain the first option:
One of the options that you have to prove your language skills is taking a language test. You can claim points for both official languages (English and French).


One of the advantages of taking the test is that you can be certain of how many points you will receive based on your test results.
You have to take one of the approved language tests in order to claim points for language ability. The approved tests are: 

English Tests


·         International English Language Testing System (IELTS).-

This test is administered by The University of Cambridge Local Examination Syndicate, IDP Education Australia: IELTS Australia and the British Council. 

Please note that there are two options for taking the test, the “Academic” and the “General Training” tests. You should take the “General Training” test for the permanent residence application.
